NYC HALF MARATHON TRAINING WEEK 16 - DAY 6 28/02- 8KM TREADMILL

Fastest ever 8 km today, and that is fastest ever in my running history from what I can remember.
Treadmill intervals, so really great to get a time that was 5 mins faster than my 8 km on the treddy a little while back- see below
Stoked and officially RACE FIT.
Second biggest mileage week, so going well and with just over 2 weeks until race day, things are coming together.

NYC HALF MARATHON TRAINING WEEK 16 - DAY 5 27/02- 5km

OMG that was hot. It had been over 35 today and still about 33 when I went out.
Back on to Linear Park for some hills again.
5 km again and sub 40 which in the heat I will consider a good time.
I've decided that this trail is more hilly than the Central Park.

Time for a rest this week so I can get fresh legs.
Going to head out again tomorrow for some Linear Park.
It's going to be hot, but only aiming for the same as Tuesday.

NYC HALF MARATHON TRAINING WEEK 16 - DAY 2 24/02- 20km

Longest training run to date with good temps for running.
A great time, with sub -3 now in my sights, which makes me feel much better about tackling Central Park.
Last 5 kms were sub 8min/km which helped with the time.
300/700 and some 200/800 intervals.

So today's run was brought to you by Hahn Super Dry and a long day at work.
2 photos as had to get off to erm... head to the loo.
Still 6 km better than no km especially seeing I was geared up on a pint of beer.
Back to normal now in the downward stretch towards race day.

A long day today spent at the Entertainment Centre for Day 1 of the World Expo.
Hours on the feet, but a good day.
No running today, might get some treddy tomorrow.

NYC HALF MARATHON TRAINING WEEK 15 - DAY 4 19/02- REST

Rest day today after yesterday's great run.
Looking forward to a couple of days recovery.
Big work weekend coming up where I will be on my feet for hours on 2 days.
On a sentimental note, my Grandad would have been 100 today.
My cousin turned 35 and our friend Lorraine's new grandson was born.

Happy with today as 18 km in about the same time as 17km 10 days ago. Getting faster.
Intervals of 200/800
Out early again, but it is the only way to get out and back before the sun comes up.

Rest day today as I know I would head towards another 40+ km week.

ONE MONTH UNTIL RACE DAY!!!
About a billion degrees outside and air con lacking in the gym.
7km on the treddy in the Blue Asics
The time confuses me but must have counted down from 90 mins so would be 55.38???
Like all training done on intervals.

Really pleased with that as I don't often do this because I don't feel I can succeed but managed to prove myself wrong today.
Probably a good thing as rest days coming up, so needed to get in some quality miles.

After a massive week last week, today is rest day following 2 days of training on the trot.
Looking to log training on Tuesday and Wednesday this week as I am off both days.
Time is running short. Still not confident of sub-3. The hills in the park are freaking me out.

NYC HALF MARATHON TRAINING WEEK 13 - DAY 6 07/02- 17 KMS LONG RUN


It was heading for an absolute STINKER today so set out very early to avoid the heat
17 kms in 2:35- not an amazing time if going for a PB but you can see the temperature below and it was already note when I went out.
Average pace 9:02 which is slowwwww.

Legs are sore, everything is sore.
Came home and went straight out for a walk. Met Mum at Joe's kiosk and we walked to Grange Jetty and back.
Slow, hopefully did some good flushing out some toxins.
Need to be on the foam roller.

NYC HALF MARATHON TRAINING WEEK 12 - DAY 7- 01/02- 7.76 KM LOFTY!

Katie picked me up at 7 and we were on our way up from about 7:30.
Much easier up than before with the girls. Slight drizzle but made the air a bit damp. Freezing at the top so came virtually straight down.
Got down by 1:53 which was fast but forgot to turn off the garmin.
This makes just about 42 km for the week.
Totally spent.

NYC HALF MARATHON TRAINING WEEK 12 - DAY 6- 31/01 17 km

Alarm for 6am, reset for 6:30 am and out just before 7 am.

Not quite the result I was hoping for but still 17kms. 
It was a 4 bottle in the belt kind of day, I only took 2. That was my first mistake. Second mistake was taking my third gel too late. Things took a downward turn after 12 kms when I started to get a skin chill. At 14 kms I took my gel as my signature calf cramps kicked in. I have worked out they indicate lack of salt, fuel and water. And once they kick in there is no saving me from walking. So last 3 kms were a walk. I really wanted to finish about 2:24. But will take a smidgen over 2:30 seeing I walked the last 3 kms.
So this was

200/500/100/200 x 1

200/500/100/200 x 1
1.0 x 3 walk
It my first go at these distances in over 15 months so not being too hard on myself. Will stay at 17kms next week rather than going to 18.

Thursday today and took a rest. It will be a big weekend with 17 km on Saturday and Lfoty on Sunday.
I'm tired but need to keep going.

NYC HALF MARATHON TRAINING WEEK 12 - DAY 3 28/01- PILATES AND TREDDY 6.02KM

A small scare at pilates this morning with a back strain. Felt like my discs were about to bulge so had to take it easy.
Headed to the gym and ended up walking on incline for 6 km to see if I could walk out the strain.
